  • The prevalence rate of smoking varies from less that 5% to over 55% across different countries. Some countries including Nigeria, Iran, Sudan, Tanzania and Canada have less than 25% prevalence and others including Indonesia, Russia, Ukraine and Kenya have over 55% prevalence. Worldwide 45% of the male population lives in countries where the prevalence is over 45%. The prevalence for females is less than half of that for males.
